Systems architecture. Security. Innovation. Climate. Critical infrastructure.
Technical depth, strategic context — and material that is actually useful to an editor, moderator or event team.
Short bio
Diana S. Engelhard
Diana S. Engelhard is an EU Architect for Security, Innovation & Climate, engineer, founder and systems thinker working across systems architecture, critical infrastructure, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, dual-use innovation and European capacity to act — with deep experience in the maritime domain.
Extended bio
Diana works where engineering, strategy and public responsibility meet. Her background spans software and systems architecture, cybersecurity, autonomous systems, critical infrastructure, innovation and security policy. She founded Unleash Future Boats and led autonomous maritime systems from concept into real-world operation, giving her unusually deep experience in the maritime domain.
Today her work focuses on architectures that remain capable under uncertainty: distributed autonomy, resilient communications, tactical and edge AI, PNT resilience, dual-use technology and European technological sovereignty.
Speaking
Topics
- 01
Systems Architecture
Turning complexity into legible architectures, capability models and explicit decision boundaries.
- 02

Coupled physical and digital systems: dependencies, failure modes, governance and capability under degraded conditions.
- 03
Maritime Systems
Deep domain experience across autonomous platforms, fleets, communications, navigation and infrastructure at sea.
- 04
Resilience by Design
Graceful degradation, recovery and architectures that remain useful when the happy path disappears.
- 05
Cybersecurity & Sovereignty
Security by design, trusted interfaces and European capacity to act without invisible critical dependencies.
- 06
Dual Use
Innovation, strategic effect and responsibility across civil and security-relevant systems.
- 07
AI & Emerging Security
Horizontal agents, tactical AI, human-machine authority and systems operating under uncertainty.
Research
Academic work
Autonomous Ferries and Cargo Ships
